  • I am a student and i have a question, i am taking the CPC exam in March, im doing the review and on this review it has mock cases, the case reads as follows:

    Patient presented to the emergency room with acute shortness of breath, fever, and hypoxia. The patient was treated with IV antibiotics, steroids, fluids and discharged home. Diagnosis: acute exacerbation of COPD, asthma, probable pneumonia,

    the instructions for the review say assign appropriate icd9cm diagnosis/procedrues & cpt procedure dode with modifier if aplicable.
    i got the following codes

    principal dx 493.2
    2ndy dx 496
    dx 786.05
    dx 780.60
    dx 799.02
    don't code the pneumonia its probable,
    the only thing i can not figure out is the iv antibiotics, there is icd9 code for iv abx, but this is outpatient so i can't use that...what code do i use to cover it????
